NICKMERCS originally opened his Twitch channel in order to stream Call of Duty content, which he did for most of the first 3½ years of his streaming career. But despite being in the scene for so long, it was only when he moved on to creating Fortnite content that his channel really took off. It probably didn't hurt that he and Ninja had already been friends for years at that point and so would occasionally team up for squad matches.

As for joining 100 Thieves, he had already been a member of their Call of Duty team since 2016, so it was easy for him to simply move across to their Fortnite team when they decided to open one in November 2017. He remained with the team until May 2019, when he moved over to FaZe Clan.
