Fortnite released Season 9 on May 9, 2019 with Patch 9.0. As usual, the Battle Pass exclusives reset for players to start the 100-level race to unlock all of the 100+ seasonal skins and items within the following ten-weeks.
Fortnite Season 9’s New features
Unlike last season’s more historic pirates and ninjas theme, this season offers more futuristic locations, skins and items including a mechanized pet and upgradable Sentinel and Rox skins, as well as a bonus Vendetta skin that is unlocked at level 100. Fortnite also decided to update a few old skins including the Scarlet Defender, Waypoint, Whiteout and Elite Agent, which can be unlocked by completing this seasons Overtime Challenges.
Fortnite Season 9 will also be introducing the Combat Shotgun with Rare, Epic and Legendary variants. But they will also be vaulting many items including Grenades, the Poison Dart Trap, Scoped Revolver, the Suppressed Assault Rifle and a few others.
Fortnite Season 9’s Map Changes
As always, the Fortnite map has also been tweaked a bit, starting with the introduction of a new building called the Pressure Plant located at the foot of the volcano that was introduced last season. Next, three old locations have been revamped, with The Block being replaced with Makakamake YT’s block, the Tilted Towers with the Neo Towers and retail Row being replaced with the Mega Mall.
However, two of the biggest changes is the introduction of the Slipstream transportation system that allows you to quickly move around Neo Tilted or Mega Mall and seven Sky Platforms to add new vantage points and launching spots for your gliders.
